BMW India proposes to invest Rs 180 crore in India by the end of 2012, as
told to ProjectsToday.
The funds will be utilised for expanding its production plant in Chennai and
developing a dealer organisation across major metropolitan centres of the
country.
Currently, the BMW plant in Chennai produces the BMW 3 Series and BMW 5
Series sedans in petrol and diesel variants. It has the capacity to produce
5,400 units per year on a single shift basis. By end-2010, the plant will also
start producing the BMW X1.
Also, the company plans to increase the number of outlets from 18 to 22
across major metropolitan centres.
