Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL)
plans to invest Rs.900 crore to expand its Global System for Mobile
communications (GSM) and broadband capacity in Rajasthan by the next fiscal.
The proposed
investment is aimed at achieving a 50 per cent growth in its GSM subscriber base
in the state. BSNL's focus will be to intensify marketing efforts in the rural
areas. After the network expansion, the company will roll out lucrative plans to
hook rural customers on our network
The company is also
planning to add two lakh broadband lines to the existing 1.4 lakh lines. Apart
from that, BSNL is also investing Rs 150 crore for rolling out WiMax enabled
common service centres (CSCs) in the rural areas. The company has identified
around 100 CSCs in the state in two phases. In Phase I, it will install WiMax
equipments at 23 CSCs followed by rest in Phase II.
