Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) will install 4,000 new mobile towers in Naxalite-affected and remote regions of Chhattisgarh to enhance digital communication, Minister of State for Telecom and Rural Development Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar announced during a three-day state visit.
The project aims to improve 4G connectivity and digital access in underdeveloped and security-sensitive areas. Speaking in Raipur, the Minister emphasised that the initiative will be implemented in phases after receiving the necessary clearances from security agencies and the forest department. “BSNL is providing high-quality 4G services across the country, and with this expansion, we are realising the mission of delivering digital connectivity to the last village in the country,” he stated.
Highlighting broader developmental efforts, Pemmasani noted that services in these areas are being delivered in ‘mission mode’. He added, “Schools in these regions are being digitised, enabling students to prepare for exams like JEE and NEET. Special provisions for differently-abled students are also being introduced as part of an inclusive push.” The Minister chaired a review meeting in Raipur with senior officials from BSNL, the Department of Posts, the Department of Rural Development, and the Department of Telecommunications to assess progress under key central schemes.
