Bajel Projects has successfully commissioned and handed over the 400kV multi-circuit Maharanibagh—Narela transmission line to Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), setting several national benchmarks in power infrastructure development.
The project, completed on 25 November, 2025, faced significant challenges in the densely populated Delhi-NCR region. To overcome these, Bajel Projects deployed a combination of 83 lattice towers and 40 monopoles, using advanced twin high-temperature low-sag (HTLS) conductors. Notably, this project introduced India’s first vertically configured 400kV multi-circuit line on monopoles, optimising transmission capacity and minimising the required right-of-way (RoW) in urban areas. It also marked the first use of 400kV insulated cross-arm technology on monopoles for PGCIL, enhancing reliability and safety.
Additionally, the project featured India’s tallest monopole (88.23m), heaviest monopole (290 tonne), and largest-diameter monopole (3,900 mm). As Bajel Projects stated, the project sets a new standard for complex transmission infrastructure in India.
