Base Batteries is planning to invest Rs 1,000 crore over four years to set up new plants and expand existing ones.
In the first phase, it has invested Rs 457 crore in its new plant at Hosur in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. In the next phase, it will invest the balance Rs 543 crore in expanding the Hosur as well as the Solan facilities.
The company is developing its Hosur facility spread over 205 acre after seven banks provided funding of Rs 270 crore. The plant will have an initial installed capacity of 2.5 lakh units per month. It will manufacture the entire range of batteries such as automotive, inverters, UPS and generators.
At its Solan facility in Himachal Pradesh, the company is expanding its capacity from 50,000 nos per month to 80,000 nos per month.
