Around 90 per cent of the upgradation
work of 21.6 km Bhiwandi- Kalyan- Shil Phata Road, which is combination of SH-40
and NH-222 in Thane district is completed. The proposed Rs.228 crore road
project is implemented by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation on BOT
basis and carried out in two phases:
- Phase I: Strengthening the existing
4-lane divided carriageway and widening the existing 2-lane carriageway to a
4-lane divided carriageway of Bhiwandi Kalyan Shil Road (including the
structures).
- Phase II: Constructing Kalyan
Bypass (with major bridge on Ulhas river and ROB on the Central Railway Line
along with the approach roads) and flyover bridge of Bhiwandi Bypass Junction.
For the first phase of the project,
MSRDC has appointed - Plus BKSP Toll Limited - an SPV of Plus Concept Consortium
as BOT operator for the work of four laning and improvement, O & M and toll
collection, whereas S.N.Bhobe & Associates was appointed as Independent
Consultant to supervise the proposed phase.
Full completion of the project (both
phase I & II) is expected by end 2008.
