Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Trust (SMPK) has invited bids for the re-construction of Berth no. 8 and the mechanisation of Berths 7 & 8 at the Netaji Subhas Dock (NSD) of Kolkata Dock System (KDS).
The scope of work includes designing and constructing Berth No. 8 in alignment with the existing Berth No. 7, which will be dismantled as required. Additionally, a container stack yard, internal roads, and necessary buildings will be developed, in accordance with the techno-economic feasibility report. It will be executed on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) basis under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The contract, valued at Rs 698.84 crore, aims to enhance port infrastructure with an optimal capacity of 4,48,140 TEUs per annum. The project site encompasses approx. 1,05,609 sq.mtrs. (26.19 acres), covering berths, roads, stack yards, and a waterfront area of about four acres designated for developing Berth No. 8 and its backup area.
The bid submission deadline is 16 April, 2025.
