On the second day of the Pragati Yatra, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the Kesaria block in East Champaran district on 24 December, 2024 where he inaugurated and laid the foundation for 104 development projects worth Rs 201 crore.
After visiting Sundarpur and Sugaon villages in Kesaria block, CM Kumar inaugurated a rail overbridge at the Kachhari railway gate in Motihari, built at a cost of Rs 29.95 crore by Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam. The bridge is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the area. During his visit, he emphasised the success of the Jeevika programme, which has empowered rural women through self-help groups.
Among the new announcements, the CM revealed plans to construct a road along the right embankment of the Bagmati river to connect Dhaka and Patahi blocks with Sitamarhi, to improve regional connectivity. He also announced the renovation and beautification of the historical Ghordaur Pond to attract tourists. The CM said an embankment would be constructed along the Bangari river to protect Raxaul town from floods.
