Blackstone Group is set to expand its data centre footprint in India with plans to invest over Rs 10,000 crore to develop a hyperscale digital infrastructure hub in Tamil Nadu.
Blackstone's data centre platform, Lumina CloudInfra, has acquired a 16-acre land parcel in Chennai’s Ambattur for over Rs 500 crore. The new campus, located in the Chennai metropolitan region, will feature an initial IT load capacity of 216 MW. This investment strengthens Blackstone’s growing network of data centre facilities across India's key digital markets, highlighting the increasing institutional interest in data-driven real estate assets. The land transaction was facilitated by Bengaluru-based Beary Group, a real estate developer specialising in data centre projects.
Beary Group, which has previously developed facilities for global operator NTT, will collaborate with Blackstone to execute the project under its design-build-deliver (DBD) model. “The project underscores India’s growing digital and data-driven economy," said Syed Mohamed Beary, founder & CMD of Beary Group.
