Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has inaugurated Bigtech's new manufacturing unit in Pillaipakkam, Kancheepuram district, near Chennai, today.
Bigtech, a joint venture between US-based Corning and Indian firm Optiemus, has invested Rs 1,003 crore in the facility, which will produce Gorilla Glass for smartphones. CM Stalin expressed his hope that the project would foster growth, attract further investments, and generate high-quality work opportunities for Tamil Nadu's youth.
Highlighting Tamil Nadu’s efforts to attract investments, CM Stalin said that the state’s transparent and efficient processes have bolstered investor confidence. He also celebrated Tamil Nadu's leadership in India’s electronics sector, noting the state’s dominance in electronics exports and its aim to become a global hub for electronics manufacturing with the launch of a new policy for the sector.
