Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated Chennai’s longest steel flyover, a Rs 164.92-crore project linking T Nagar and CIT Nagar.
Named after late DMK legislator J Anbazhagan, the 1.2-km flyover connects South Usman Road to CIT Nagar First Main Road, aiming to ease traffic congestion in one of the city's busiest commercial hubs. Integrated with an existing 0.8 km structure, it forms a continuous two-km elevated corridor, improving cross-city travel from areas like Saidapet, Guindy, and Nungambakkam.
Built under the Infrastructural and Amenities Fund, it is Tamil Nadu’s first state-executed steel flyover, marking a milestone in sustainable urban mobility. Officials expect reduced travel time, lower fuel consumption, and fewer emissions. The project reflects Chennai’s broader infrastructure ambitions and sets a benchmark for future developments. Advanced construction methods and design features were used to enhance both durability and safety.
