Cochin Shipyard (CSL) and Denmark's Svitzer have signed a landmark agreement to build advanced electric TRAnsverse tugboats in India.
This collaboration aims to enhance environmental sustainability and operational efficiency for tug operations. The agreement was finalised during India Maritime Week in Mumbai. The electric tugboats, known for their precise control, energy efficiency, and reduced emissions, will cater to Svitzer’s global fleet expansion and the growing demand in India’s maritime sector.
The initiative will also strengthen local supply chains, talent development, and deliver high-performance green technology for Indian ports and beyond. This partnership combines Svitzer's towage experience with CSL’s manufacturing capabilities, promising cleaner and safer harbour operations worldwide.
