The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has entered into an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish a major port and shipbuilding cluster at Dugarajapatnam in Tirupati district, with a projected investment of Rs 29,662 crore.
	
	The initiative aims to boost employment, promote self-reliance under the Make in India program, and enhance maritime growth. During the India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, VPA also signed several MoUs for port development, including a Rs 3,000 crore deal with MECON India to improve multimodal logistics and efficiency. Other collaborations include a Rs 500 crore deal with NBCC for land development, and partnerships with HUDCO and Rail Vikas Nigam to modernise cargo handling and port connectivity.
	
	These projects, totalling Rs 39,216 crore, support India's Maritime India Vision 2030 and Net Zero emissions goals, contributing to regional economic growth and job creation in Andhra Pradesh.
