The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved the second phase of land pooling for the development of Amaravati, enabling the acquisition of more than 16,000 acres to advance key infrastructure projects.
According to Municipal Minister P Narayana, the pooled land from seven villages will support construction of an inner ring road (IRR), a new railway station, railway tracks, and a significantly expanded international sports city. Of the 16,666 acres identified, 7,562 acres will be drawn from Vaikuntapuram, Pedda Madduru, Endrai, and Karlapudi, while 9,104.57 acres will come from Vaddamanuru, Harishchandrapuram, and Peddaparimi. The Minister also noted the availability of 3,828 acres of government land, though much of it is hilly. Emphasising long-term planning, he said a 30-year action plan has been prepared to align with future living standards.
The sports city, initially allotted only 70 acres, will now span 2,500 acres to host major international events. Farmers joining the pooling programme will receive residential and commercial plots along with lease payments.
