The Centre has approved the Karnataka government’s proposal to convert the Bangalore-Mysore road into a six-lane highway.
The 123 km highway, including service roads, has received NH status and has been numbered ‘NH-275’. NHAI has agreed to fund the entire project, as well as collect toll.
The total expenditure of this project is Rs 3,000 crore, with Rs 1,100 crore reserved for land acquisition; Rs 1,600 and Rs 300 crore for construction and shifting utilities respectively. Work is scheduled to commence in early 2015 and is expected to be completed by 2018.
Along with lane expansion work, flyovers will be built at Bidadi and Srirangapatna; and bypass roads at Ramanagar, Channapatna and Mandya towns, as a part of this project.
