In a significant boost to road infrastructure in the Delhi-NCR region, the Centre has approved a 30-km expressway connecting Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and the upcoming Jewar International Airport.
The new corridor will run parallel to the existing Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, along the Yamuna River, linking Pushta Road with both the Yamuna and Noida-Greater Noida expressways. Originally proposed by MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma and supported by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the project received in-principle clearance from the Noida Authority in March 2025. With the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) likely to take over execution, only formal approval remains pending.
The new expressway will help decongest the current 25-km corridor that handles over 5 lakh vehicles daily. It’s expected to act as a strategic bypass, allowing smoother traffic flow and direct access to Jewar Airport. Initially planned under UPEIDA with shared costs, the Centre’s involvement shifts funding and oversight to NHAI, ensuring higher construction standards and long-term viability.
