The Central government has approved ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India’s (AMNS India) proposal to establish an iron ore slurry pipeline from Chhattisgarh to Andhra Pradesh via Odisha.
Approved under the Petroleum and Minerals Pipelines Act, 1962, the project will transport iron ore to AMNS’s upcoming steel plant at Anakapalli, creating a cost-efficient and eco-friendly logistics corridor which reduces reliance on road and rail. The pipeline clearance, along with recent environmental approval for the first 8.2 MTPA phase of the 17 MTPA integrated steel plant, marks a major step in Andhra Pradesh’s emergence as a global industrial hub. The Anakapalli plant will feature advanced, energy-efficient, and low-carbon technologies.
Education, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh hailed the approval as a reflection of the state’s proactive governance and commitment to world-class infrastructure, expected to generate thousands of jobs and boost green industrial growth.
