Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs Ananthkumar inaugurated the CIPET: the Centre for Skilling & Technical Support (CSTS) at ITI Building.
The minister also laid the foundation stone of the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering &Technology (CIPET) Building at Doiwala, Dehradun.
The CIPET Dehradun will admit 1,500 students in the first year, which will be increased to 2,500 in the second year and subsequently to 3,000 students.
An announcement was also made for allocation of Rs 40 crore for establishing a plastic park in the state at Sitarganj which will be among other units, house a plastic waste recycling unit to cater to the increasing generation of plastic waste in the state. The park will generate employment for over 5,000 people.
Apart from this, 100 additional Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) Kendras will be established in the state.
The CIPET: CSTS at Dehradun, under the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, the government of India, is being established with a total project cost of Rs 51.32 crore having funding support of the government of India and the government of Uttarakhand on 50:50 basis.
