St Xavier's University, Kolkata (SXUK) plans to establish a School of Nursing, and a medical college in the near future.
Vice Chancellor Father Felix Raj stated that the School of Nursing will be launched first, with the university seeking land from the government for the project. He emphasized the importance of healthcare facilities and infrastructure, or potential hospital tie-ups, for both the nursing school and medical college. The university has already spent around Rs 550 crore on infrastructural expansion since 2017, including a new academic building and an auditorium with a capacity of 2,000 people. The second academic building is nearing completion, with modern classrooms, laboratories, and a moot court.
The university is also considering constructing two swimming pools to encourage sports participation. Starting in 2026, SXUK will introduce B.Tech courses, followed by M.Tech courses, along with other academic offerings like integrated MBA, B.Ed, and School of Design.
