The Centre has sanctioned Rs 6,621.62 crore for construction of the frontier highway in Arunachal Pradesh. The allocation has been made for the construction of eight packages on National Highway 913 (Frontier Highway), transitioning to an intermediate lane configuration using the EPC mode, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said.
The project spans a total length of 265.49 km, and encompasses packages-I, III and V covering the Huri-Taliha section, two packages covering the Bile-Migging section, packages-II & IV for the Kharsang-Miao-Gandhigram-Vijaynagar section, and package-I focusing on the Bomdila-Nafra-Lada section, the Minister further informed.
Apart from this, Rs 292.65 crore has been approved for four-laning of Tower Chowk to Basukinath section of National Highway 114A in Dumka district of Jharkhand. This project will facilitate the transportation of important religious places of Deoghar and Basukinath, and will reduce congestion and contribute to the social and economic development of the area.
Similarly, in Jammu & Kashmir, an allocation of Rs 224.44 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the Shopian Bypass on National Highway-444, for a two-lane configuration with a paved shoulder. This development, spanning 8.925 km in the Shopian district, will executed using the EPC Mode.The overall impact includes improved connectivity and heightened road safety measures.
An allocation of Rs 626.01 crore for National Highway-150A, spanning 13.087 km across Bellary and Ananthpur districts, Karnataka has been sanctioned for the completion of the four-laning of the Bellary Bypass. The initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Bellary town, and enhance road safety. Additionally, a 28 km bypass on the southern side is already in progress as part of the broader Hospet to Bellary project.
