The Centre has sanctioned Rs 94.08 crore for safety and infrastructure works on the busy National Highway-275, specifically the Bantwal–Bengaluru stretch in Karnataka.
Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar announced on January 13 that the funds will be used to address safety concerns along the Sampaje–Kushalnagar section, which is prone to landslides during the monsoon. The project will focus on the 78 to 125 km stretch, where measures such as the construction of 1,650 metres of Reinforced Cement Concrete retaining walls and 110 metres of pressure relief walls will be implemented.
Additional safety measures include widening 1,690 mtrs. of road at 17 locations, rebuilding culverts, and installing crash barriers and traffic signboards. The work will be carried out under the EPC model and is expected to take 18 months, with a 10-year maintenance period post-completion. Once finished, the project aims to enhance safety and ensure smoother connectivity between Bengaluru and the coastal region, even during adverse weather.
