The Chhattisgarh government has approved key amendments to its Industrial Development Policy 2024–30 to promote investment and employment creation across multiple sectors.
The Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, cleared changes aimed at making the policy more “employment-oriented, comprehensive, and beneficial for enterprises,” according to an official statement. Originally notified in February, the policy aligns with the broader “Amrit Kaal: Chhattisgarh Vision 2047” and is scheduled to be in effect from 01 November, 2024, to 31 March, 2030. The revised framework emphasises periodic reviews and flexibility for updates.
The amended policy includes a focus on modern agriculture, toy industry, textiles, tourism, and logistics. New-age farming techniques such as hydroponics and aeroponics will be promoted, alongside the adoption of technologies like automation and the Internet of Things. Industries which hire local state residents will be eligible for government grants.
In tourism, the minimum investment threshold for setting up hotels and resorts in Bastar and Surguja has been reduced to boost footfall and generate local employment. The textile sector stands to receive up to “200 percent incentive” for new investments, benefiting tailors, embroiders, and knitters.
The state also plans to develop a dedicated logistics policy to position Chhattisgarh as a logistics hub, easing freight movement and improving market access.
