Colt Data Centre Services (DCS) will invest USD 750 million (Rs 6,230 crore) to build data centre capacity at new facilities in Mumbai and Chennai over the next three to five years.
The new data centre based in Navi Mumbai covers over 15 acres of land parcel and has the capacity to support 120 MW of IT power. In addition, the company is working on the upcoming Phase-II for scaling this capacity to 150 MW, as per future demand.
Further, the company is close to completing the land acquisition process to develop a new data centre in Chennai and is likely to start operations in the next two years. The data centre, with a capacity of another 120 MW will spread across 10 acres.
Colt DCS, backed by Fidelity Investments, has invested around USD 150 million in Phase-I, and the total capex in the coming year is estimated at USD 850 million.
Currently, it has an operational capacity of 162 MW overseas, and as per the expansion plan, it expects to grow to 944 MW.
