The Water Resources Department, Odisha, has undertaken construction of dam under Lower Indira Irrigation Project in Kalahandi district of Odisha.
The project worth Rs 1,182.23 crore will spread over 32.89 ha of land. In August 2009, the Central Water Commission (CWC) sanctioned the revised cost Rs 1,182.23 crore from Rs 521.13 crore. The project saw cost escalation due to time over-run.
In March 2018, Megha Engineering & Infrastructures bagged an order worth Rs 242.99 crore for construction of underground pipeline irrigation system (gravity flow) for 13,982 ha of CCA and command area development (CAD) for 29,900 ha of CCA of the project on EPC contract (turnkey basis).
As per the latest data tracked by Projects Today, work on the project is underway with completion rescheduled for December 2019.
