The construction of a new flyover at Cheruvannur near Feroke in Kozhikode has officially commenced. Minister for Public Works, PA Mohamed Riyas inaugurated the project on 18 May, 2025.

The flyover, developed under the City Road Improvement Project, aims to decongest traffic at the busy Cheruvannur junction. Estimated at Rs 89 crore, the project includes Rs 30 crore already spent on land acquisition. The 700-mtrs.-long, 16-mtrs.-wide structure will feature 5.5-mtrs.-wide service roads on both sides. A unique aspect is the planned transformation of the space beneath the flyover into playgrounds and gardens, enhancing community utility and aesthetics.

The project is being executed by the Uralungal Labour Contractors’ Cooperative Society and supervised by Kerala Road Fund Board. Completion is expected by the end of 2025.

The Minister also announced that construction of the Meenchanda–Areekkad flyover would begin soon, reinforcing the state’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure. The government's focus is on optimal use of space under bridges, noting that 16 new bridges have been constructed and six renovated in Kozhikode district, with 17 more under construction.
