Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has appointed Rudrabhishek Enterprises as a consultant to prepare a detailed development plan (DDP) for the Chennai Outer Ring Road (CORR) growth corridor in Tamil Nadu.
The corridor, with an area of 25 sq. km., would be developed based on transit-oriented development (TOD) with multiple transportation facilities. The consultant will help plan development along the road, identify spaces for grid road formation, mark spaces for public facilities, and earmark lands to develop industries, commercial establishments, residential areas, as well as other departments.
The consultant will also review existing planning frameworks, development plans, and regulations specific to the planning area. It will prepare a DDP for a width of one km on either side. As part of the consultancy assignment, it will be responsible for the identification and delineation of the most suitable areas for implementing the Land Pooling Area Development Scheme (LPADS).
The state government envisions CORR as a high-growth corridor, which is likely to attract business, industrial activities, and residential areas. The upcoming road will also help to decongest the core city, especially due to the higher floor space index and improved infrastructure.
