Cummins India has commissioned a parts distribution centre (PDC) at the Cummins Megasite at Phaltan in Satara district of Maharashtra.
This is the company’s fourth PDC with three facilities inaugurated in January 2011 at the Cummins Megasite. This center will serve as a logistics hub which will enhance its ability to serve its customers significantly. With this new facility, the total investments by the Cummins Group at the Megasite have reached approximately $100 million (approx Rs 450 crore).
Also, the company had held a ground breaking for the fifth project on the site which will be an industrial engine upfit centre for upfitting diesel and natural gas mechanical and electronic B and L and C series engines. The range will serve the power generation, industrial and automotive applications. The facility slated to be ready by June 2012 will manufacture 20,000 engines per annum.
