DMIC Development Corporation (DMICDC) is considering setting up gas based
power projects along the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor.
DMICDC is likely to set up six gas based power projects with a combined
capacity of about 10,000 MW along the industrial corridor. The proposed plants
are likely to be set up along the GAIL's Hazira-Vijaipur-Jagdishpur and
Dahej-Vijaipur pipelines, which fall on the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor.
Of the total, two each are to come up in Maharashtra and Gujarat; and one
each in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. This includes 1,200 MW plant at Banswara
in Rajasthan, 1,000 MW plant near Guna in Madhya Pradesh and about 1,000-MW each
power plants in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
The land acquisition process of the proposed plants has already been
completed and other necessary clearances, including environmental clearance, are
being taken from respective government agencies. In Maharashtra the plants are
to come up at in Indapur industrial estate near Pune and in Vile Bhagad
industrial estate in Raigad district. The Maharashtra Government has allotted
151 ha in Indapur industrial estate and 64 ha in Vile Bhagad industrial estate
for the proposed projects. DMICDC has signed an agreement with GAIL for sourcing
of 24 mmscmd of gas.
