In accordance with the Union Ministry of Power’s
policy to add 1,00,000 MW of generation capacity by 2012, Damodar Valley
Corporation (DVC) plans to expand its capacities by setting up new units at its
four thermal power stations, viz. Durgapur, Mejia, Bokaro and Chandrapur. These
new units are expected to add more than 1,400 MW to the Corporation’s existing capacity.
