The first phase of Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) project from Dabaspet to Hoskote via Doddaballapur is likely to be opened for traffic by the first week of March, 2024. It connects three national highways-NH-48 (Tumakuru Road), NH-44 (Ballari Road) and NH-75 (Bengaluru-Kolar Road).
Nearly 500-700 mtrs. of road works are pending. As the construction works between Dabaspet and Doddaballapur near completion, it is anticipated to complete the 80-km line from Dabaspet to Hoskote by February-end. In November, 2023, the National Highways of Authority of India (NHAI) had partially opened the 34-km stretch of STRR between Doddaballapur and Hoskote by collecting toll fees at Nallur village in Bengaluru Rural district.
At two stretches, the construction of a railway over bridge (RoB) near Doddaballapur and an underpass near Doddabelavangala is in advanced stages. The opening of the 80-km stretch is likely to reduce the number of trucks entering the city from Tumakuru Road by 40-50 percent.
Between Dobaspet and Doddaballapur, a toll plaza will come up near Hulikunte. The four-km work near Hoskote and the integration of the STRR with the Bengaluru-Chennai expressway have been done.
