The Supreme Court has extended the deadline for setting up the Nuclear Power Corporation of India’s (NPCIL) safe storage of radio-active spent nuclear fuel at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP) by April 2022.
The court had earlier granted time till 30 May 2018 to set up the 'Away From Reactor Facility' (AFR) to store the spent nuclear fuel.
The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP) in Tirunelveli's Kudankulam is the single largest nuclear reactor in India.
