The Delhi government aims to complete two key flyover projects in 2025, both part of double-decker viaducts on upcoming Delhi Metro corridors. Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma recently sought updates on the projects, directing officials to ensure completion this year.
One of the viaducts is being constructed between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar on the Maujpur-Majlis Park Metro line. It features Delhi’s first double-decker structure with a four-lane flyover on the lower deck and metro tracks above. While the flyover is nearly ready, work on the ramp is pending due to a tree-cutting approval. Completion is expected by July. The second project is a 2+2 lane flyover from Azadpur to Tripolia Gate, spanning 2.2 km on GT Road, part of the RK Ashram Marg–Janakpuri West Metro corridor. It aims to decongest traffic between central and north Delhi, benefitting areas such as Derawal Nagar, Vijay Nagar, and Rana Pratap Bagh.
These projects are joint ventures between the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and PWD under Phase IV of metro construction. A fresh allotment of Rs 20 crore was made this year for the Azadpur flyover, with completion targeted for December 2025.
