The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to float tenders for a unique four-storey "house-boat convention centre" to be built at Baansera on the Yamuna floodplain.
The project aims to provide a versatile space for hosting meetings, conferences, and dining events. In line with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's vision to transform the floodplain into a public space, the convention centre will be designed entirely in wood to maintain the ecological integrity of the riverfront, with no use of concrete or steel. The structure will include a meeting room, dining area with a pantry, reception lounge, and other supporting amenities.
The convention centre will be constructed using deodar for the base, cedar for the superstructure, and walnut for decorative carvings, with interior elements made from chinar wood. The project is set for completion within 180 days of the contract award, with an expected finish by May-June 2026.
