Digital Connexion, a joint venture between Brookfield, Reliance Industries, and Digital Realty has announced a USD 11 billion investment over five years to develop a one-gigawatt (GW) AI-native, purpose-built data centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Spread across 400 acres, the facility will host advanced GPUs, TPUs, and AI processors, supporting seamless AI workloads for hyperscalers and enterprises. The deal was signed during the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit 2025, in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, IT Minister Nara Lokesh, and Reliance Industries Executive Director P M S Prasad. This investment aligns with India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, emphasising innovation, sustainability, and high-performance computing.
Digital Connexion’s data centres, including its Chennai campus and a Mumbai site under construction, feature renewable energy integration, efficient designs, advanced cooling systems, redundant power feeds, and carrier-neutral connectivity. The announcement comes shortly after Google revealed a USD 15 billion plan for a world-class AI data centre in Visakhapatnam, highlighting the region’s emergence as a hub for AI-driven digital infrastructure in India.
