Dixon Technologies India and Netherlands-based Signify, owner of lighting brands like Philips and EcoLink, have announced a 50:50 joint venture (JV) for original equipment manufacturing (OEM) of lighting products and accessories in India.
Dixon will transfer its lighting business, including its wholly-owned subsidiary Dixon Technologies Solutions, to the JV as its 50 percent contribution, while Signify will acquire the remaining 50 percent stake through a cash transaction. The JV will handle part of Signify’s lighting production in India while also manufacturing for other lighting brands. A binding term sheet for the partnership was signed on 27 March 2025.
Dixon’s Managing Director, Atul B Lall, highlighted that Signify is an ideal strategic partner due to its shared commitment to quality, innovation, and customer focus. He emphasised that the collaboration will enhance Dixon’s operational efficiency through Signify’s expertise in lighting technologies and process optimisation.
CEO of Signify Innovations India, Sumit Joshi, stated that the JV aligns with India’s "Make in India" initiative, aiming to establish a world-class manufacturing company. He added that the venture will focus on producing high-quality and competitively priced lighting products.
This strategic partnership is expected to strengthen India’s position as a global manufacturing hub for lighting solutions.
