The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has accorded environmental clearance for development of Bilaspur to Urga section of NH-130A (Raipur to Dhanbad Economic Corridor) starting at Junction with NH-130 and NH-130A, near Nehru Chowk, Bilaspur and terminating at junction with NH149B and SH-4 near Urga in Chhattisgarh.
The development of the road of around 70.2 km is being undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The road project aims at developing Bilaspur to Urga section of NH-130A to four-lane access controlled highway.
The project highway alignment is greenfield in most of the length and starts from Dheka village at ch 125.050 of under construction Bilaspur bypass and terminates near Chitapali village at ch 8.150 of SH-04.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1,115.45 crore. It involves development of greenfield highway along with six major bridges, 14 minor bridges, 134 culverts, two ROBs, three flyovers, and 30 vehicular underpasses.
The proposed project passes through three rivers, 15 irrigation channels and 17 ponds. However, the highway will not intersect the water bodies directly as elevated structures are proposed over these water bodies.
The project will provide employment for 900 people.
