The completion of the electrification of the 55-km Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Ghat section is a major milestone for the Bengaluru–Mangaluru rail link, says Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta.
The project, which addresses a critical bottleneck on the corridor, will significantly enhance rail connectivity between Bengaluru and Mangaluru. According to Chowta, this electrification will accelerate railway infrastructure development, improve freight movement to the coast, ease port operations, and boost commercial activities in the region.
The MP highlighted that the Ghat section, known for its technical challenges, will see improved efficiency and reliability in train services. He noted that improving the Mangaluru–Bengaluru link has been a priority, with efforts focused on enhancing capacity and operational efficiency. "The electrification is a key boost to our coastal railway network," he said.
