The 10-km Hosur Road Elevated Expressway stretching from Bommanahalli to
Electronic City in Karnataka is nearing completion.
The Rs 880-crore expressway is likely to be opened to traffic soon. However,
the date for the official inauguration of the elevated expressway has not been
finalised by the NHAI.
The four-lane expressway is expected to run above the six-lane existing
highway. The median dividing the traffic had been completed and the lanes too
had been marked along a good portion of the expressway. Bangalore Elevated
Tollway, a SPV floated by Soma Enterprise, Nagarjuna Construction Company and
Maytas Infra has constructed the expressway. It has a 4-lane flyover at
Bommasandra, 6-lane flyovers at Chandapura and Attibele, eight pedestrian
underpasses and 16 bus bays and shelters.
On completion, it is likely to take less than 20 minutes to cover the
distance between Bommanahalli - just after the Central Silk Board Junction - and
Electronic City against the one hour it now takes during peak hours.
