Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi is likely to open an elevated road and a
ring road bypass in Delhi in September 2010.
PWD is likely to inaugurate the Ring Road bypass project linking Indira
Gandhi Stadium to Kashmere Gate is likely to be inaugurated on 11 September
2010. The 5.5-km bypass is being built at a cost of Rs 654 crore. The Ring Road
bypass from Velodrome Road to Salimgarh Fort (behind Red Fort) is a part of the
integrated traffic and transport plan prepared for CWG.
The four-km-long elevated road built over the Barapullah drain to link the
Commonwealth Games (CWG) village in east Delhi to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in
south Delhi, is likely to be opened for traffic on 15 September 2010. The road
has been built at an outlay of Rs 550 crore.
