Epiroc AB, a global productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and construction sectors, has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for rock drilling tools in Hyderabad. This expansion marks a strategic move to enhance Epiroc’s capacity to serve both mining sector in India, and international customers with high-quality drilling solutions.

The new facility, located near Epiroc’s existing Hyderabad plant, will manufacture a range of advanced products including rock reinforcement tools, critical for improving mine safety, and rotary and down-the-hole (DTH) drilling tools designed to increase efficiency and productivity in mining operations. Production is slated to begin next month.

The facility’s launch aligns with Epiroc’s broader vision to support sustainable mining practices and to strengthen its presence in the region. The expansion is expected to generate local employment, adding approx. 35 new work opportunities. Currently, Epiroc employs about 1,600 individuals in India, many of whom are involved in research and development.

President of Epiroc India, Arunkumar Govindarajan, highlighted the company's continued investment in India’s industrial ecosystem: “By investing in local manufacturing and increasing our capacity we support our customers’ growth while contributing to sustainable productivity and innovation in the mining sector,” he said.

The new facility follows a significant milestone in 2017, when Epiroc doubled its plant capacity to meet rising demand. In September 2024, the company also broke ground on this new site and inaugurated a new innovation and technology centre in Hyderabad—underlining its commitment to localized innovation and production.
