The government of Ethiopia is set to receive USD 98 million grant from the African Development Bank (AfDB) for construction of the Ethiopia-Djibouti corridor road project.
The entire road project is expected to cost USD 255 million. The government of Djibouti is expected to contribute USD 5.3 million to the project through an AfDB grant, leaving a deficit of USD 151 million which will be covered by the Ethiopian government through a co-financing contribution.
The road project consists of construction of the first 60 km of a four-lane expressway section of the new 126 km stretch from Adama to Awash and includes design of a one-stop border post at Dewele. The project is set to commence in 2020 and it will be implemented over a period of five years.
