Danish engineering company FLSmidth on
19 October 2006 announced the signing of a Danish Kroner 202 million ($34
million or Rs.153 crore) contract to supply all machinery and equipment
for a 5,500 tpd cement plant in India. Located in Karnataka, the plant is to be
built for Jay Kay Cem Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of JK Cement Ltd., and is
expected to come on stream in the second half of 2008. (project

FLSmidth also announced the award of a
Danish Kroner 98 million ($16.5 million or Rs.74 crore) by Rain Industries. The
contract includes supplies of machinery and equipment for a 3,800 tpd cement
production line. The plant, which is to be built in Andhra Pradesh, is expected
to come on stream by end-2007. (project

FLSmidth's Indian
project division in Chennai conducted the negotiations for the two new cement
production lines and will also be responsible for implementing the projects,
according to a company statement.
As part of the contract, the Indian
project division will supply machinery and auxiliary equipment for the cement
production lines and will supervise installation and commissioning at the two
plants. The machinery supplies include four ATOX vertical mills for raw meal and
coal grinding, five ball mills for cement grinding and two complete pyro
processing systems featuring ILC preheaters, 3-support kilns and SF Cross-Bar
coolers. Besides, FLSmidth subsidiary MAAG Gear is to deliver the gear units for
both projects.
ProjectsToday adds: This is the
second Indian order for FLSmidth in recent times. In early September 2006, the
company won a $44 million contract to construct a cement plant for Zuari
Industries, now a fully-owned subsidiary of Italcementi of Italy. (more...)
