The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) is planning to
set up a film city and a wellness city in the state.
The proposed film city is planned at Bidadi while the wellness city is to be
located at Kabini near Mysore. KSTDC has identified 400 acre near Bidadi and 200
acre at Kabini for these cities. EoIs for these projects from the private sector
are to be invited shortly.
In addition to these two projects, KSTDC is expected to offer 10 other major
tourism projects at the global investors’ meet (GIM) to be held here on 3 and 4
June 2010.
The major projects identified by the Corporation include luxury hotel with
wellness centre, arts and crafts centres at Bijapur, 3-star hotels at Badami,
Chitradurga, Sagar, Hosanagar, Theerthahalli, luxury hotel at Pattadakallu,
Hampi, Sakleshpur, urban entertainment centre at Mysore and 18-hole golf course
at Tannirbavi beach near Mangalore and an international convention centre at the
Bangalore International Airport.
Also, the Corporation has identified four circuits for starting heli-tourism.
The tenders will soon be finalised for the first circuit - Hampi, Badami, Aihole
and Bijapur.
