The final detailed project report for the improvement of NH-40 between Shillong and Dawki, and construction of Dawki bridge funded by JICA funding, has been submitted.
As per the status report of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation, the final report was submitted in August 2017.
The report also added that the road alignment has been modified following a proposal from JICA and the state government. The 71.2 km road project will entail an investment of Rs 1,330 crore.
The project will take two and a half years to be complete after the tender has been issued. The work will include a 368 mtr long and 12.5mtr wide bridge in Dawki.
The project proposes to build a four lane road from Umshyrpi to Mylliem and a two lane road connecting Dawki and Tamabil.
Transys Consulting has been appointed as the project consultant.
