The Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned five projects worth Rs 361.97 crore under Buddhist Circuit. The ministry has identified Buddhist Circuit as one of the 15 thematic circuits for development under Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
In Madhya Pradesh the development of Buddhist Circuit will be in Sanchi-Satna-Rewa-Mandsaur-Dhar at a cost of Rs 74.94 crore, while in Uttar Pradesh it will be in Srawasti, Kushinagar, & Kapilvastu at the cost of Rs 99.97 crore.
The construction of Convention Centre adjacent to Maya Sarovar on the western side at Bodhgaya, Bihar, will see investment of Rs 98.73 crore.
The development of Buddhist Circuit in Junagadh-Gir-Somnath- Bharuch-Kutch-Bhavnagar-Rajkot-Mehsana will see investment of Rs 35.99 crore and the Circuit at Shalihundam-Thotlakonda-Bavikonda-Bojjanakonda-Amravati-Anupu in Andhra Pradesh will cost Rs 52.34 crore.
