Fluence Energy, a leading US-based provider of battery-energy-storage systems (BESS), is considering India as a strategic manufacturing and export hub.
The company, backed by AES Corporation and Siemens, has begun talks with local partners to produce BESS components, including enclosures and control systems. John Zahurancik, Fluence’s senior executive, emphasised that this move aims to serve the Indian market and broader AsiaPacific region. Fluence, already holding about a quarter of the global energy-storage market, operates manufacturing plants in the US and Vietnam.
The company’s Bengaluru innovation centre is central to product development, while India’s vendor network will support production. Although commercial production dates are pending, Fluence is reviewing prototypes and working on localising key components. The initiative reflects Fluence’s supply-chain diversification strategy and highlights India’s growing role in large-scale battery-storage manufacturing and export. “We’ve begun discussions with local partners to produce key BESS components to serve not only the Indian market but Asia-Pacific and other neighbouring regions,” John Zahurancik, Fluence Energy.
