Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 14 September, 2025 laid the foundation stone for multiple key projects in Assam’s Darrang district, including the Darrang Medical College and Hospital, the GNM School, and the B.Sc. Nursing College.
PM Modi also launched the Guwahati Ring Road Project, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity, along with the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra to boost regional socio-economic growth. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, present at the event, presented a memento to PM Modi on Krishak Swahid Diwas.
Later in Numaligarh, Golaghat district, PM Modi inaugurated the Assam Bioethanol Plant at Numaligarh Refinery (NRL), designed to promote clean energy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The projects, collectively worth over Rs 18,530 crore, were described by CM Sarma as a "momentous occasion" for Assam. Modi’s two-day visit also included a roadshow.
