The Andhra Pradesh Government has approved Rs 204.67 crore modernisation
package for Prakasam Barrage across Krishna River near Vijaywada. Work on the
project is expected to begin soon.
The modernisation package includes repairing and necessary replacement of
crest gate hosting equipment, gear boxes, wire ropes and electronic switches
that control the rising and lowering of the barrage gates. Repairs will also be
taken up to the cement concrete aprons downstream and upstream the barrage.
The proposed project is a part of the Krishna delta modernisation project.
