The Kerala Government has sanctioned Rs 158.68 crore for various development
projects in Kochi.
Of the total, Rs 40 crore has been allocated for renovation of the North rail
overbridge, Rs 12.5 crore for development of the M G Road stretch from Madhava
Pharmacy junction to Thevara, Rs 30.12 crore for development of the stretch
between North rail overbridge to Madhava Pharmacy junction on Banerjee Road, and
Rs 38.64 crore for broadening of the stretch between Jose junction and South
railway Station.
Also, a sum of Rs 37.42 crore has been approved for construction of an
overbridge near Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus stand and for the
development and widening of Salim Rajan road and Mullassery canal road.
DMRC is likely to execute these projects as part of the proposed
Kochi metro rail project.
It has been asked to prepare DPR and submit them to various departments
concerned with the projects. The District Collector has been made in-charge of
land acquisition for the projects.
