GE Power India (GEPIL) has secured Rs 142 crore (USD 20 million) order from NTPC. The order is for supply and installation of low NOx combustion system for 10 GW of thermal power plant capacity across the country.
This is the first project awarded on such a large scale by NTPC to install low NOx combustion technology at its thermal power plant fleet.
The project involves in-combustion system modification of the boiler by staging combustion air in the furnace to reduce generation of fuel and thermal NOX during combustion process.
The projects that have been selected for installation of low NOx combustion system includes Stage-I (two x 500 MW), Mouda Super Thermal Power Station(STPS); Stage-I (three x 660 MW) & Stage-II (two x 500 MW) Sipat STPS; Stage-III (two x 500 MW); Stage-IV (two x 500 MW) & Stage-V (one x 500 MW), Vindhyachal STPS; Stage-II (two x 500 MW) Simhadri STPS; (three x 500 MW) Vallur TPS; Stage-III (two x 500 MW), Talcher STPS.
The project will be delivered in a phased manner over a period of over 30 months.
